Cuteness Overload!!!

Hey Everyone!!!

Hope you’re doing well!

I just wanted to share an adorable video that I am currently a bit obsessed with! Actually some of you may have already seen this because it went viral just a few weeks ago.

This video is about a super cute baby named Leo who sees his mother for the first time in his life and this precious moment was captured on video by the baby’s father!

Baby Leo was born with a rare condition, Oculocutaneous Albinism or OCA, which is a rare form of albinism that impacts his skin, hair, and eyes. In his case it has left him with very weak vision.

Prior to receiving his glasses baby Leo was unable to see anything.

His parents who live in Seattle, traveled to LA to see a pediatric ophthalmologist, Dr. Keith Wright. Dr. Wright created the rubber glasses that are featured in the video in order to help baby Leo see the world!

And here are some screenshots for your viewing pleasure!

Reflections on a Tragedy

Hey Everyone!!! Hope you’re all doing well!

Initially I intended for this blog to be only a place of positivity however, life isn’t always happy and perfect and tragic things do occur all over the world and I think that as good humans its our responsibility to  feel sorrow when we learn about tragic events.

Yesterday, a group of barbaric terrorists created chaos in my parents hometown, Kabul, Afghanistan, by detonating a car filled with explosives. Although they were targeting supporters of the government the majority of the victims were civilians including women and children.

Honestly, some of the images that I saw were just so tragic they included injured children and even a tiny toddler covered in blood. Other images showed a river of blood. Thus far, 64 people have died and more than 300 have been injured.

One of the things that gives me pain is that this tragedy did not receive nearly as much media attention that the recent attacks in Belgium received. Please don’t misunderstand me I was in deep pain after the attacks first in Paris and then in Belgium.

However, I truly believe that all loss of innocent lives is a tragedy whether that be in San Bernardino, Paris, Istanbul, Belgium, Kabul or anywhere else in the world.

I  understand the point that these sorts of attacks are more common in Kabul and in other Middle Eastern or Muslim countries that’s why its not as shocking as the recent tragic events that occurred in San Bernardino, Paris, and Belgium however, aren’t they all equally tragic when innocent lives are lost?

I am hoping to see a day when the media treats all lives equally.

Anyways, thank you for bearing with me through this sad post I promise you that the majority of my blog posts will be more positive 🙂

Grandma’s Birthday Party!!!

Hey Everyone!!!

Hope you’re doing well! Although I won’t normally post too much about my personal life (just because there’s usually nothing too interesting going on 🙂 ) I do want to share something pretty exciting that occurred this past weekend.

As you can tell by the title my family and I arranged a surprise birthday party for my (maternal) grandma! My lovely grandma turned 80 this year. My parents came up with the idea of throwing a surprise birthday party for her like  two months ago and my cousins and I planned it out. One particular cousin went out of her way to make it extra special and she definitely deserves the most credit!

When the day finally arrived my my mom was busy cooking up a feast in our kitchen. Meanwhile  my cousin went to my grandma’s house and took her shopping so that my other cousins could set up the decorations in her apartment.

After we arrived at my grandma’s house we texted my cousin to bring grandma back and as she opened the door we all started singing happy birthday!  My grandma was literally in awe of everything and she was excited beyond words!

She later described her excitement by mentioning that she has never been so happy in her life and that no one has ever surprised her in such an amazing way before!!! Of course, this was music to our ears because it means that the hard work paid off 🙂

Planning this whole party took a lot of time, effort and cooperation but it was definitely worth all the joy and happiness that it brought to my lovely grandma!!!

Here are some pictures:

The Birthday Queen herself! Trust me she usually always has a smile on her face but she was caught off guard in this one and of course, she was too busy cutting the cake 🙂

Hope you all enjoyed this!

A Bit About Me

Hey Everyone! Hope you’re all doing well!

I just wanted to create this post to help you guys know a bit more about me and hopefully this will help you to understand where I’m coming from, or my perspective, when you read some of my future posts!

I was born, raised, and currently live in southern California. My parents are originally from Afghanistan and they immigrated to the United States almost thirty years ago.

I live at home with my parents and two younger brothers. I am very blessed to have two very kind and supportive parents. Also, I have been blessed with a kind extended family as well that all love me despite all of my imperfections.

In June 2017 I graduated from the University of California Irvine with a Bachelors degree in Psychology

I was actually born with a rare disability called möbius (moebius) syndrome. Without going into too much detail this condition causes many people, including myself, to have difficulty making facial expressions and moving their eyes.

The way that this disability has impacted my life the most is that it has severely affected my speech. Basically, it is very difficult for others to understand me when I speak. In fact, this is why I’m so passionate about blogging. I truly feel that I can best express myself through my writing and I hope that I can positively impact the lives of others through this blog 🙂

I am definitely an introvert however, I still love people and I love communicating with them through writing and the online world.

I am interested in many different topics ranging from physical and mental health to skincare and spirituality and I hope to be able to blog about many of these topics.

If you like my posts please make sure to subscribe to the blog ! I hope that you will join me and support me on my blogging journey!

-With Love,
Yasmin

By the way, all of this has been posted on the about page on the blog but I also wanted to create it as a separate post so that you guys can easily access it and get to know more about me!
